    • just down the road from Lochcarron are the ruins of this 14th century castle which was blown up in 1603 during a clan feud.

    • 16th century fortified home - formerly the home of the Brodie of Brodie - now a Scottish National Trust property.

  • Cawdor Castle

    • 14th century castle, linked with MacBeth by Shakespeare.

  • Eilean Donan Castle 

    • the famous castle on Loch Duich which used to feature in the "balloon" sequences on BBC television.

    • an imposing castle on the shores of Loch Ness.

    • site of the last major battle fought on British soil
